Designer: Story Design, Ltd.
Project Size: 48,000 square feet
The new Consumer’s Energy Cooperative headquarters includes unique features to serve member-owners and the general public. Story’s design-build team remodeled a 15,000-square-foot area that features educational space to showcase various alternative energy forms, a community/training room and offices. To bring more light into the office area, 30 Solatube skylights were installed. The lighting is controlled by a special dimming system that adjusts according to the amount of natural light available. The 24,000-square-foot remodeled warehouse area and 9,000-square-foot addition for vehicle storage provide more space to maintain equipment and organize materials. The addition features a geothermal in-floor heating system.
