On May 12, Story Construction’s Commercial Building Team Leader Mike Welter was elected to serve a two-year term on the volunteer board of directors for the Greater Iowa Credit Union during the organization’s 80th Annual Meeting.

Mike was one of five individuals elected to the credit union’s 11-member board, which oversees policies and the strategic direction of the organization. The board directs the credit union according to fiduciary, state and federal regulations and ensures the financial needs and expectations of the credit union’s members are met.
Mike has been a member of the Story family since 1993 and has more than 30 years of construction experience. After graduating from Iowa State University in 1981, Mike worked in Fresno, Calif., for 12 years as a project superintendent, project engineer, project manager and project estimator before returning to Iowa. At Story, Mike has managed a variety of projects – including commercial manufacturing facilities, medical buildings, religious schools, higher education projects and churches. Mike became a stockholder in the firm in 1999.
