Steve Tenney, CFO, Elected Vice Chairman for CFMA

Princeton, N. J. — The Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) is pleased to announce the election of Steve C. Tenney, CFO, Story Construction of Ames, IA, as its new national vice chairman.  Among its 6,500 plus members, the vice chairman position is the second highest-ranking volunteer member position within the 32-year-old professional organization.
Mike Espeset, President, Story Construction Co., said “We have been fortunate to have Steve as our CFO and one of our stockholders for long time and I am looking forward to seeing the positive impact his new role with CFMA will have.”  Stuart Binstock, CFMA President and CEO, said “Steve has been a valued member of our executive team at CFMA for a number of years, and I am confident that his passion for the industry will help create an even better CFMA.” Tenney served as treasurer for CFMA in the 2012-2013 fiscal year, and prior to that was heavily involved in both the executive team of CFMA and at the chapter level.
Mr. Tenney is CFO and one of the owners of Story Construction Co. in Ames, IA. Before joining Story Construction in 1996, Steve worked in public accounting and Heavy & Highway. He was a charter member of the Iowa Chapter when it was formed in 1991 and has been a member since that time. He held several officer positions and served as President of the Iowa Chapter in 1999-2000. Steve has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2009. His other national committee and task force experience includes: Chapter Resources Committee, Succession Planning Task Force, Bylaws Task Force, Investment Subcommittee, Finance Committee, CEO Search Task Force, and Strategic Planning Committee. He participated in CFMA’s National Mentoring Program and is a Spring Creek alumnus.
