Story Awards Scholarships
August, 2009 - Story Construction proudly presented scholarships to area students:
Kevin Heggen, the son of John and Sandy Heggen, will receive a $500 scholarship. Kevin is majoring in chemistry at Iowa State University. He was recently recognized for Academic Achievement from the ISU Department of Chemistry.
Mallory Lonergan, the daughter of Pete and Nancy Lonergan, will receive a $500 scholarship. Mallory attended Des Moines Area Community College and this fall she plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa to major in Elementary Education. She would like to teach third grade in a low-income, inner-city area
Levi Long, the son of Jerry and Susan Long, is the recipient of a $750 scholarship. This fall he will be a junior in the biology program at Iowa State University. Levi’s academic honors include acceptance into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Joshua Tenney, the son of Steve and Mindy Tenney, will be receiving a $500 scholarship. Josh is pursuing a degree in the Liberal Arts and Sciences College at Iowa State University. His goal is to earn a degree that will augment his career as a musician.
Kasey Theilen, the daughter of Lori and Jeff Theilen, is the recipient of a $750 scholarship. She is a 2008 graduate of The Salon Professional Academy and is currently pursuing a business degree at Des Moines Area Community College. Kasey’s goal is to become the education coordinator for a salon service company.
Story Construction Co. established the scholarship program to recognize deserving students that are children of employees of the firm assisting them in meeting their educational expenses. The recipients are selected based on their scholastic achievements, extra-curricular activities, and commitment to their chosen field.
